A comprehensive introduction into how the autistic community is treated and interacts with various parts of American culture and society. The first few chapters were very big picture themes, which were harder for me to get into. The organization of the book didn’t seem to flow well throughout, but I understand why it was organized that way. I think this would have been better in print than audiobook, however.

The first half of the book was rather slow going and at times seemed repetitive.  However, I gained so much from reading the second half where examples made his points so much clearer.  As a parent of an autistic adult, I agree completely with the author that we need to shift the resources to make sure that all autistic people live their lives with the support that they need.  Currently, most of the money continues to be spent on uncovering the "cause" and "finding a cure".   As adults with autism are now able to tell us, they don't need to be cured.  They need support from family, community, schools, work, and the government, to live their best life.
