Clever humor and a quick read. I can see how JKR was influenced (if the thought is true) by this book for Harry Potter.

I had never even heard of this author before I picked up this book, now I'm extreamly interested in reading more of her books. While this book is clearly written for children, it is such a good story you will soon forget.

i do NOT remember eva hating fat people that much from year 5. actually this tracks with the secret countess but there's no yearning to distract me from it in this one. oscar liked it though!

After reading this book I see that JK Rowling has as well and decided to put a little nod to it in her books. Again super cute, very British, a great read aloud, and just some good fun. For those who are looking for a book that smacks of Roald Dahl, and Harry Potter.

I love this book! I think this book is best for people who like books by Roald Dahl. It has a similar style. It's also good for people who like a bit of magic.
