This book was pretty solid. I loved Anastasia and Nathan as a couple. I also really appreciated how careful Nathan was to make sure Anastasia really wanted to be with him. I wish I could pinpoint why this isn't a 5 star read for me, but in general I think there were a lot of secondhand cringe moments that I really struggled with. Overall though, I don't doubt that I'll eventually re-read this.

This book was really mid-tier for me. If I have to be honest, I enjoyed the side characters way more than I did the main characters. I would've much rather read about Lola and Robbie or a book about Henry than a book about Nate. Anastasia had her moments but for the most I liked her, it was just Nate that really got on my nerves 😭🤚🏻

Like he just seemed kinda toxic throughout the book. He had this chokehold on Anastasia in the same exact way that he complained about Aaron having a chokehold on her. Not saying I support Aaron by any means. I think both of them needed to grow up and let Anastasia be her own person. But in my own personal opinion, there is no way this author should've written, "He is such a man written by a woman" when the dude doesn't even know what tampons and shampoo are.

Other than my qualms with Nate, this book is pretty middle of the road for me. I did enjoy the friendship banter, and honestly to a degree, I enjoyed the banter within Anastasia and Nate's relationship. I enjoyed the sports aspects of the book, I honestly wish there had been a little more hockey content and less "we're athletes so we're also f*ckboys who love to party" content.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, but it's definitely not my favorite read of the year. I am glad I was able to give it a chance. And maybe in the future I'll re-read it and like it more but for now, it's just a 3 star.

Wow, what a book, and so much to cover!

First of all, I want to commend this book on the adult handling of so many difficult topics, from calorie intake for professionals to handling workplace relationships where the friendship has soured. The wonderful communication between the two main characters meant you truly understood how both were feeling, even from opposite sides. There was something realistic about each of the characters, and you truly felt they could have existed outside of the romance book.

My two main gripes about this were that I felt the plot dragged on a little at the end (for example,
her skating and falling into the lake was an unnecessary extra
) and that some of the actions were a little too childish sometimes for me to reconcile with the development of the characters. However, both of these were minor gripes, and I found the book amazing overall.

Wow. I’ve never laughed so much from a book in my life I’m pretty sure. Also the tears I’ve cried were some beautiful ass tears. I LOVE THIS BOOK. There’s so much I loved about it. Nathan, marry me? Omg the banter, the comedic scenes, the partying, the found family, therapy, Henry, JJ. So good so good. Chefs kiss. I hate you Aaron. Lola, you’re amazing. Ugh I’m so happy I read this.
I feel like I was definitely getting some feeling that this book will be with me forever but I got turned off a bit with the conflicts at the end. The ice pond and Aaron’s kiss. But it’s still a 4.75. I’m so happy there wasn’t a third act breakup lol.

So fun

Someone asked me on the bus if I was reading ice breaker and she was so giddy, gushing about how much she liked the book.

Not a slow burn!
