So very good! The third act conflict felt true to the characters and was well written, not just some random miscommunication like some romance books. I love the communally theme and the lack of damsel-in-distress storytelling. Only reason I didn’t finish it one day is because I have a toddler who wants to read his books. But it’s that good.

I dont know whats more unrealistic: the fact that their university put on Hamilton or that a man like Nate Hawkins really exists. I think its both.

There was so much hype surrounding this book, but I was so disappointed.

There were too many characters with too-elaborate backstories, making this hard to follow. The writing was generally good, but there were too many sub-plots for my taste.

What really ruined it for me was the epilogue. I was really disappointed with how the book ended and felt it was very out-of-character.

my feelings about this book fluctuated so much over the course of reading it 😭 this is something I would've probably read on wattpad, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing – I do think it leans towards the better side of that site. I also know that if this was on AO3, I would've eaten this up (esp since 80% of AO3 content is queer) so I don't blame the author for getting money out of it or the book's readers for enjoying it.

I did read this to relax my brain so I wasn't really looking for criticisms. I would just say that the story was incredibly slow and is mainly no plot, just vibes? which I think is the reason why the story felt really long. things mainly just happened and the character's responded accordingly to their characters, kinda like how character exercises are written, maybe 😭

I do agree that there was a lot more sexual content than I would normally find in a fiction book, but it wasn't something I was unused to. and they weren't written terribly! I've come across worse and the boundaries addressed here were nice to see acknowledged.
Although, someone warned me before I read it so I think I should too: Nathan and Stassie do it while Nathan is in a Gru halloween costume. take that as you will.
while the book was admittedly a bit too straight for me (possessiveness, stereotypical size difference, etc) I can see why people would enjoy this.

I do appreciate the usage of the side characters, though, even though there were a lot. This book honestly does a lot of things better than I expected, but I think 3 stars is fitting for my experience. even when he reminded me he was a straight™ guy every now and then, Nathan was better than a lot of other male leads I've seen online that concern me, so that was refreshing to see. he was actually self-aware, emotionally available and really sweet. I'd say that's a bare minimum, but I'd settle for anything to raise the ground from hell haha
