There’s a v weird ovsession with birthing order? Idk maybe it’s bc I’ve moved around a lot in birth order during my life but i don’t think I’ve ever heard it brought up in convo as often as it is in this book
Stassie is a commitment phobe and that’s fine but usually there’s a reason? Also she really did not resist commitment nearly as much as i feel she should’ve given her label as a commitmentpbobe. So there’s that.
Nathan - first off not a moan worthy name imo. It maybe it’s just that one of my nephews is named Nathan
He’s a nice guy but not v realistic and that’s not to be man hate-y or bitter but just bc he’s just so darn patient with stassie’s bs but still isn’t honest w her ab her partner’s bs
Also there is not a SINGLE queer character i can think of in this book
The sec is good, big fan.
There IS a near death scene i didn’t see coming and there is also a food sex scene that…isn’t for me and didn’t see coming but okay. Glad that got interrupted. Speaking of food
There’s a lot at play in this book, they spend a lot of time on a lot of things stassie struggles with and i feel like it’s not super legit just bc she apparently has a bestie who just doesn’t notice she has a legit eating disorder? Also tw for that. And it’s like. Her recovery is p easy and like glossed over so well.
Nathan helps out with skating but is just miraculously a good stand in for a skater who is legit expecting to go to the Olympics?? Sure jan
They’re weirdly good communicators for people who’ve never been in legit relationships and have so many mental/emotional problems they don’t work thru well
LOTS of talk about unexpected pregnancy. Maybe it’s the lesbian in me but good god i went to a women’s college and STILL didn’t hear this much ab it.
She regularly calls him bub, which is…weird to me. It also increases in frequency as the book progresses. Ick
Is stassie small? Can’t tell. Is Nate just SO much bigger than her? Can’t tell. Make it clearer, Hannah grace.
There also was a non con kiss tw
The ending. Disgusting.

Enjoyed this! I thought the story really started progressing at about the halfway mark. I will probably read the next book in the series.

here's my story: i want to read wildfire so bad but i don't like starting a series not from the first book, and since my first try reading icebreaker wasn't it so i tried the audiobook and it did not disappoint.

natestassie's romance had me swooooning <3 and the spice was a surprise—well, spices. don't let the cute illustrated cover fool you. OH, BUT the uber scene still doesn't make sense to me, like how big is the uber car in the US that their friends didn't notice that?? not even slightly peeking to the backseat?? yeah. but the other scenes? chef's kiss. all the characters interactions are soo funny and entertaining the banters got me giggling every time. also, henry's my favorite i'm so happy to find out that his book is coming soon! ><

moral of the story: think the book is boring to read? try the audiobook!

This is nice and light book to read. I like that it is a book to really good shows how manipulation can look like not only in relationships between friends like also coworkers. I am really happy that many of the inappropriate situations was addressed and no one made victims look bad. And I like good character development. And I can see how many of the characters have been through it. And it was nice to read that. My only complaint was sometimes the time skips to fast and tha was not enough for me plesurble to read but this is something that came maybe pist me of so will not change my grade. A good book to read.

I really enjoyed the story of finding love where you don’t expect it, friends who are there for you no matter what, toxic people getting their comeuppance, and that while having a team/partner beside you is great you can also do things solo and be okay.

That being said, I found this book to be too sexy? Like there was so much sex it was eventually just background noise. Definitely not an audiobook to listen to with the kids around, but by about half way I could have skipped through the sex scenes and still enjoyed the book.

All sex aside, I loved the communication between all the characters (friendship and romantic relations) and the amount of times Nate and Stas mentioned therapy and how beneficial it was.

This book was amazing - Hannah Grace is a great writer! :) It's got to be one of the best romances I've read, it was such a page-turner and I read it very quickly considering I'm a very slow reader! The characters were very lovable and relatable, as it is written from a duel perspective (probably the only ever duel-perspective I've read where I'm more excited to read the guy's perspective too!!). I also think it's very important for the lines of consent to be clear, and lines were never blurred in this book - definitely for a mature audience too! I also loved the fact that there was always great communication between them throughout and the constant reminder that therapy and expressing feelings is never something to be ashamed of.

One thing to be aware of before reading this is it does frequently talk about calorie counting and under eating, this didn't bother me, but it may be a theme that others find uncomfortable.

Overall, an amazing book!
