Lack of development or indication of where the plot was going.

What if you could step into the life of anyone you wanted to be? Who hasn't dreamed of being Famous? I had to sit on this one for a couple days. But the more I think on it, the more I love it. Another great read from Crouch!

I'm going through my backlog of Blake Crouch books. This was the 2nd of his current 10 standalone novels and definitely my least favorite of the ones I've read.

Overall I felt that the story was a little bit predictable, which coming from Crouch feels like a huge black mark as I feel like one of the hallmarks of a Crouch book is its unpredictability. I would say, overall kind of "meh". It had an interesting idea (celebrity doppelganger emulating a bigger life) and while it did deliver on "will he get away with it?!?" questions, ultimately I think Crouch could have done a lot more with the premise.

Blake Crouch always writes about the nature of our humanity, even in his earlier books such as this. Very interesting, creepy, twisted, and shocking and worth the read!

The book was well-written from the perspective of a psychological profile of a sociopath. Honestly, I'm not particularly sure how I can rate this less than 4 stars when it was written well enough for me to be so thoroughly horrified and disgusted by the protagonist.

So, please, understand that the four 4 stars are not because I enjoyed the story. The 4 stars are not because I thought the characters were absolutely wonderful.

The 4 stars are given because this book was so skilled at making me so revolted by the protagonist without the cause being shitty writing.

I am so glad I am done with this book.

Also, fuck Lance.
