I picked this up because I love a good fake dating story. But I didn't expect this to be quite as heavy as it turned out to be, so I think that threw me a little bit. I was expecting a romantic comedy and this was more of a comedic drama. The characters' trauma
and addiction and substance abuse and mental health issues
and the toxicity of Hollywood was believable and heartbreaking, it was just a lot. Especially the one major conflict scene at the end in the car after the interview. Oof.

The plot and pace was pretty good. And it was nice to see Grey being soft and giving to Ethan, but standing her ground and holding her boundaries too.

I may have rated this higher if I went in intentionally expecting a drama, but... I wasn't.

4.5/5🌟This one had a slow start but really grew on me. These characters are so honest and it makes you want to root for them so bad, even though you know that problems may arise in their relationship. Something was missing for me though and I was really let down by the epilogue. I didn’t get to see as much of the couple’s growth together as I would’ve liked. Still very good and heartwarming though.

Big TW for alcohol use/substance abuse/alcoholism

This book starts with fake dating but deals throughout with the concept of trust issues and with themes of grief.  Well written I was engaged from start to finish to be honest.  It does have adult content throughout so I would suggest 18+.
Not everything works out perfect so we do have self development and dealing with personal issues and also second chance romance towards the end.

Although it wasn’t a fave by any means certainly still a good book
