This book takes place over one day. Brandy receives an acceptance to nursing school but wants to go to art school instead. She applied based on her mother’s dreams. Her mom sends her to buy a dress and she runs into Ben, her friend she’s had since forever. They end up hanging out most of the day and challenge each other. Can Brandy be brave, stand up to her mom, and go for her dreams??

Obsessed with them. OBSESSED. Ben and Brandy. My cutie pie sweet angels!!! I love them I love them I love them. Ben is just the sweetest cinnamon roll to ever exist. I wanted to squeeze him. I love how he and Brandy teased each other. He also really believed in her, and she in him. We love to see it!!

Brandy’s panic attacks were done so incredibly well. I could empathize with how she was feeling about her mom and dad, school, and discovering her feelings for Ben. She dealt with a LOT in one night! I was rooting for her the whole time. When she drew Ben? *swoon.* When she drew herself? *bigger swoon.* I love how she went for her dreams!!

Loved Shai and her meddling (it was so cute!) and how much she encouraged and loved Brandy. I thought their friendship was really strong.

The heart to heart with Brandy’s mom at the end. That epic kiss!!!! Goodbye me!!! I seriously love Ben and Brandy. AND side note the epic shoutout of Kiss&Tell by Adib Khorram was amazing. 🥰

So much fun!! Read it in one sitting, which is just what I needed after being frustrated with my slow progress in another book. This one was fun with great characters! I just want more of their story, which is a great way to feel about a book!

I really appreciate the way Davis was able to bring her characters to life in a way that made me so invested what I couldn't stop reading. This was one of very few books out there that I read and immediately thought "Well, this would make an excellent show," and then could imagine all the other characters' stories spinning out from it. I was particularly invested in Brandy's best friend Shai.

It didn't hurt that the whole book was set over the course of a single night and much of it takes place around a carnival, which is one of my favorite places, too. She even almost had them start on The Zipper, and boy do I have a good date story about that ride 😂

Anyway, I can't wait to read more of Davis' work. What a delight!

This was a nice story about coming to terms with your own dreams amidst dealing with expectations from family and anxiety. "This Night Is Ours" was far from a bad book, but it never really grabbed my attention. It took me a little over two weeks to read it because every time I put it down to do something, it was hard to garner enough interest to pick it back up. The characters are sweet, and the story has charming moments, but for me it ended up being underwhelming and nothing remarkable.

The only complaint I have about this book is that in some parts it’s painfully YA. I still really enjoyed it regardless.

Thank you Little, Brown Books for the ARC!

This is really, really cute. I am such a sucker for YA romance. And this one had me giggling and kicking my feet. I loved the characters, I loved the setting, I loved all of it. I also really loved that the whole book takes place during one day. I really love how the romance develops. This is such a fun, lighthearted romance and I loved it!

(Also there were a few typos in this one, which I'm sure will be fixed before it gets published. That was one of the only things that bugged me. Other than that, it was good.)

***ARC Version***
The only reason this book did not get 5 stars from me is because I would have preferred more diversity. The main character is half white half black / mixed. The main love interest is white. Overall, the character has panic attacks shows neurodivergent/ sensory sensitivities, has abandonment issues, people pleasing tendencies, demiromantic, etc. I see a lot of myself and people I know in her. There are some instances the slang used feels like an adult writing from a modern teen pov which it is. I can relate to the being kicked out for the wrong reasons and complicated parent/family relationships. There was so much drama in this hetero story and I enjoyed it. I hope the FMC gets help, learns to be kinder to herself, and not force herself to have kids or do what people want. The author did really well.
