This is a mediocre to book to introduce a great series for 10-15 year olds. The book does not have a strong plot with a central conflict and resolution. It is more of an introduction to the characters and a description of life in Redmont fief. As such it is good, but as a story it is lacking. Read this book as an introduction to the characters, but continue with the series to read a good adventure story.
