I adored this book! It had me hooked from the very first sentence. This is a heart-wrenching tale of grief and loss, and what it truly takes to overcome those obstacles. I have always enjoyed Ms. Raven’s books and this story is no exception. Ms. Raven’s forte is tortured bad boys with a heart of gold and feisty, no nonsense woman who heal the bad boys heart and soul. While at times, I wanted to smack Matt upside the head, he was always doing what he thought was best. He is most definitely an alpha male. Octavia is a sweet, spirited woman; who sees through Matt’s defenses and walls. Together they learn to lean and trust, and just the simple act of listening and being emotionally vulnerable, is enough to heal even the hardest and coldest of hearts. As usual, the chemistry and sex scenes who hot. Tay and Matt are now one of my favorite book couples. This story was well written, with Ms. Raven’s usual mix of humor and twists and turns. Another fantastic read.

It's been awhile since I've read anything from this author (I read the Inked Brotherhood series several years ago) but reading this book reminded me why I enjoy Jo Raven. To be honest, it took me a few tries to get into Matt and Octavia's (Tay) story. I don't want to give away any spoilers but I will say that Matt is a huge donkey in the beginning! It's understandable why Matt was such a surly jerk and his need to try to raise his family on his own but I didn't get how he seemed to be completely devastated, yet quickly became so enamored with Tay. But the further I read, the more I began to like Matt and his two adorable kids. He's the definition of dark and broody and his flawed character managed to grow on me! Octavia was super sweet and I loved how devoted to her family she was. She really had to grow a backbone to deal with Matt's "back off" attitude. This is an older man/younger woman trope but it also has some suspenseful moments and a few intriguing twists. In the end, this turned out to be a pretty enjoyable read! Told from dual POVs with a happy ending.

„Caveman” is a MF romance by Jo Raven.

Matt is a single father, who after losing his wife has to take care of his two kids all by himself. He’s not doing very well - mostly due to his grief and unbearable pain. When he moves to Destiny he needs to hire a nanny. That’s when Octavia comes in.

Oh My God! What a book! Jo Raven is back to torturing her men and I loved every second of it.

„Caveman” is a truly captivating story, I couldn’t put it down. I had to read it right away. There were many twists and turns I didn’t expect! I don’t want to spoil it, so I’ll just say WOW!
This is a very emotional story - Matt’s pain had me in tears few times, but there were also a lot of fun and sexy times.

Matt was a complex character - still grieving, in a constant pain and always worried. No wonder he’s grumpy and seems uncivilized. But underneath there’s a loving, caring man, who would do anything for the people he loves. Oh, and did I mention he’s HOT?!
As for Octavia - she was sweet, innocent and I liked her right away. And let’s not forget about kids - they were adorable, cute and most of the time I just wanted to hug them.

All in all, I loved it and would recommend it!

Jo Raven is one of my all-time favorite authors. I've greatly enjoyed almost all of her books, and this one was no exception. Somewhat typical of her books, it was major on the angsty radar with a heaping dose of feels. After losing his wife, Matt kind of goes a little insane and withdraws completely from everyone and everything, including his two young children. When Octavia enters the picture looking for a job as his kids' nanny, he immediately slams the door in her face. So begins a tumultuous, strange relationship between the two. It also doesn't help that there is a little over ten years age difference between the two, which Matt balks at all throughout the novel.

There is more of a sinister aspect to this book than has been touched upon too heavily in her previous novels that was extremely intriguing and thrilling. It was also interesting to see the hero struggling with anxiety and panic attacks, which is something you normally ever read the heroine ever experiencing. I liked that there was kind of a quiet vulnerability to Matt that he hid underneath a hard and angry exterior.

Okay, so let me explain a couple things about this book: I'm rating it based on how I enjoyed the story and nothing else. It isn't my favorite of hers, but it also isn't my least favorite. The next thing I noticed is that it does need a little extra editing and proofing, which tends to be a common occurrence in her novels. Now, for me, this doesn't really detract from the story itself, but it can definitely be a little distracting and if you're someone who tends to struggle with reading novels with some editing issues, be aware of this. I would encourage you to read the story for yourself, but I do think this is an important component to touch upon.

I'm of the opinion that I will pretty much one-click whatever Jo writes, as I have loved her books so much over the past couple years. All in all, this was a good read and I finished it fairly quickly.

I love Jo Raven

Jo Raven is not known for giving her male leads an easy time. They are always carrying some level of torture on their broad, muscular shoulders. Matt was no different.
Despite his tough exterior, he had a heart of ice that was just begging to be melted and Octavia was just the person for the job.
Matt is the brother-in-law of Zane (my favourite of all the Inked Brotherhood) and he even popped up in this story <>
As with all pasts, Matt's is about to catch up with him, putting those he loves in danger. Between trying to figure out who is doing this, fighting his growing attraction to Octavia and protecting his family, Matt is struggling to keep his head above water.
Octavia is a sweet and innocent girl, who knows what she wants as soon as she sets eyes on Matt.
This story is told from both Matt and Octavia's point of view, which I love. They are both very different characters, but both are coping with situations in their past, that have a huge impact on their present.
As with all of Jo's books, I devoured this one. She always writes characters that you can't help but adore, despite their flaws.
