The Stormbreaker series is high on my list of recommended reads for the kids at school. I bought the whole series recently, and I am way past high school! Horowitz creates a thrilling world of school boy espionage and he writes so well that you are more than involved - I know I have been genuinely shocked by some turn of events, especially in the final books! My mother even read them and liked them!
Good action packed story aimed at reluctant teenage boy readers. I'm glad I've read this one now so I can speak with confidence that this one will keep you turning the pages with action and mystery.

My sister handed down the 8th book in this series to me a couple years ago and I've been looking for the first 7 books since I read that one. This book kept me hooked from beginning to end and I am so glad I found it.
Non-stop action with a large dose of incredulity on the side. A fourteen-year old spy with skills, what’s not to hope for?
I see why this series was so hot back twenty years ago when I began working as a school librarian. I had to keep on my toes to make sure I had each new episode on the shelf as soon as possible. Some of the technology is dated, but I think I may still get a few readers for it.

I'm obviously not the target demographic but I love reading, James Bond and spy fiction and I've started to appreciate Horowitz as a writer. I can see the appeal and popularity based on this first book. Alex himself is a little vanilla but the situation and set pieces play with 70s era Bond tropes and it all makes for a lot of fun. It could perhaps take itself less seriously but hey, small complaint. I'll happily while away more hours listening to these and see how far they take me.

Bond is very often mentioned, and it does feel like a child trying to be Bond. And considering how much Bond bumbles his way through, not bad Alex.
