I read this in school, as did most boys my age at the time. It was the biggest series I can remember, before Hunger Games and everything else hit later on. When in France years later we found the movie in the place we were staying and I was overjoyed as I hadn't managed to see it in the cinema. The credits rolled and we sat there in stunned silence: it was terrible.
The book is not only for the kids as the young adults can easily enjoy it. It contains everything like drama, action, suspense and hate. Alex is the only main character of a novel who I really started loving the very day I started reading it..

alex felt very flat and hollow since there was no real depth to his character besides his karate skills. i also wished we would've gotten more insights regarding his relationship with his uncle since he is supposed to be his father figure
