Not my fave LG, but definitely memorable and tasty. Fun to read her first novel - makes me appreciate her mastery of the form even more. My discipleship continues.

The prologue is about the corpse of a lake monster being found (cool! mysterious!)
The rest of the book is about family drama (boring. couldn't get over the mc calling her mom by her first name. get back to the lake monster!!!!)

I didn't like this book at the outset, but somewhere along it grabbed my attention and just wouldn't let go. I wanted to solve the family mystery just as much as she did. I found myself caring about these weird characters and actually liking them. I would recommend for anyone interested in family histories.

I might have given this book four stars but I felt the ending lacked a certain punch.

Reminded me of a somewhat aged Gilmore Girls.
