Saga continues to be an excellent comic. It's been a while since I read one but it was easy to get back into the swing of things.

When we left off in Vol. 2 Alana, Marko, Marko's mom, baby Hazel and their ghost are hiding in the author's house while the prince android interrogates him on their whereabouts. On another planet, The Will, Marko's very angry ex Gwendolyn, the Slave Girl now named Sophie, and Lying Cat are attempting to find them. Side characters include two tabloid reporters trying to question people who used to know Alana.

It's not as complicated as it sounds. Kinda.

The first volume set up the world(s), the conflict and some of the main characters. In volume two there was a lot more information about Marko - his family, his past, his experiences as a soldier. In volume 3 it's Alana's past that is dissected by the two tabloid journalists. I really enjoy the asides and the way they build up more and more of the universe. The atrocities of war, the civilian deaths, the terrible things people do on both sides - it's setting up just how radical Marko and Alana are for trying to just live in peace as a family and why various people find that so threatening.

I was surprised by where they went with The Will but I expect we'll see more of him at some point. Lying Cat continues to be the best, reassuring Sophie and providing her companionship. There was one really interesting moment where another character threatens Lying Cat with "what they really are" which I hope is something that gets answered at some point. Watching Marko's mom and the author interact was hilarious, right up until the point where it was heartbreaking. Gwendolyn really needs to stop introducing herself by murdering people as soon as she sees them.

This is a great, bold story. I just wish we were getting more information about the correlation to our world and where/when this takes place. Maybe in the next one..
Second read: this is definitely a story you just need to grab onto and go along for the ride. You don't read this series, it reads you.
