Whatever complains I may have with the way the story unfolds have been addressed by the movie. Needless to say, Clive Barker outdid himself with this creation of his time and again.
It is a very short book, which is great for anyone going through reading slumps, or just, you know…sneaking some numbers into your Reading Challenge?

Very gory, but entertaining in this Halloween season.

A lot of classic works don't entirely hold up, but this one definitely does. Clive Barker's writing is descriptive and eloquent yet equal parts grimy and disturbing. Being a novella it doesn't overstay its welcome or stretch plot points for the sake of runtime.
