Book was great but one thing that was keeping me annoyed is that the ''best'' security guards are unable to keep school protected from teenagers, but can keep prime minister safe. It just doesn't make any sense due to that fact I gave this book 4 stars

I enjoyed it almost as much as the first part, althought I'm a bit disappointed that we're not gaining that much new information, and it took a while for me to get hooked on the story again in the beginning.
I enjoyed the whole Carter/Sylvain plotline, even though I didn't agree with everything Allie and Carter did and said (especially Allie), it felt very realistic and I felt her pain when they broke up. Sylvain is very likable in this book, tbh the attack on Allie in the first one doesn't feel like him at all, I find it hard to believe at this point that one guy would be so heroic and give so much of himself, while also crudely sexually assaulting her when he drank a little bit? I can't imagine a person who unites those traits, but oh well.
One thing though, the fact that they are letting teenagers go on security patrols and still don't even give them phones for that (!!!) is an unforgivable safety hazard. Literal deaths could be prevented if they just gave them something, even walkie-talkies, to communicate.
The intentions of the Nathaniel clan are also still very nebulous and don't make much sense to an outsider yet, why are they killing students for no apparent reason if they want to win them over? but hopefully it will become clearer and more logical with the next parts.

"Il segreto della notte" è il secondo capitolo di questa saga, che purtroppo non è avvincente come il primo. Tengo a sottolinearlo già da subito, molto spesso mi è capitato che i seguiti di una saga non fossero all'altezza dei primi romanzi, e anche se qui la differenza è lieve, a questo secondo libro è mancato qualcosa.
Mi sembra che la saga sia composta da quattro o cinque libri, dunque immagino che questo sia solamente un capitolo di transito, in cui la situazione viene solamente approfondita e non vi sono particolari risvolti. Ritornando alla Cimmeria per il secondo anno, Allie ritrova i misteri lasciati durante l'estate, assieme agli amici e agli ex compagni.
Rispetto al primo libro, qui sembra tutto più tranquillo, non vi sono particolari avvenimenti che scuotono di molto l'animo del lettore. Allie entra nella Night School, a parte qualche attacco dai nemici, una spia che comincia a dare fastidio e un incontro che la farà dubitare di chiunque manca l'elemento avvincente che nel romanzo precedente cattura e ti trascina fino all'ultima pagina. Il romanzo non prende particolarmente, le vicende cruciali sono concentrate verso la fine.
Il thriller è poco presente in questo secondo capitolo e non ho apprezzato l'avanzata della storia d'amore. Ci sono delle variazioni, il triangolo persiste e purtroppo non mi sono trovata d'accordo con le scelte fatte dall'autrice (e di conseguenza da Allie). Non sono mai stata particolarmente interessata alle variazioni amorose in qualsiasi romanzo leggessi, eppure qui sono stata davvero presa alla sprovvista e non mi sono mai ritrovata così "arrabbiata" per una variazione. Spero che nei prossimi libri questa scelta comporti un colpo di scena (perché ho una mezza idea di chi possa essere la spia) e che l'intreccio si faccia più contorto.
