Algorithms are determining more of our lives than we think, and gaining more control every day. It is therefore essential that we understand what this means. This book is the best starting point that I can imagine. Fry is a mathematician, but there's no mathematics here, it is more a book about ethics.
It is well-researched & referenced but with a chatty style that will be recognisable to anyone who knows her from TV or radio. She expresses personal opinions and uses personal anecdote on occasion, striking the right balance between an accessible style and objectivity.
A must-read overview of one of the most important things happening right now.

Excellent
A well-balanced look at the impact of algorithms on our lives - some that you may never realized existed. You'll read examples that will make you hate them because of their horrible side effects, but then you'll read the marvelous influence they are having and incredible potential to bring about good. Hannah's mathematics background give her wisdom to understand this complex topic and to provide valuable recommendations on the way to a better future with algorithms.

Hannah, te adoro, qué libro más entretenido y educativo.
Eso sí, el hecho de que haya más de 50 páginas de referencias ha hecho que me lo acabe mucho antes de lo que esperaba, y estoy triste.

Hannah Fry takes a very well-balanced look at AI and the world of algorithms. In her book she covers all major areas in which the use of algorithms has become rather common (data, justice, medicine, cars, crime, art) but also heavily debated. Unlike others weighing in on the subject, she neither glorifies nor demonizes the use of algorithms, but rather calls for a conscious and deliberate use of algorithms. Instead of seeing them as flawless machines (which they aren't) that control our behaviour, they should be seen as helpful assitants with their own set of flaws.

Enjoyable but not much of the information stuck and it was difficult to pick up once I put it down
