Ok, I love Dune. I think after three books I can safely say that I have been converted into a fan of Frank Herbert‘s masterpiece and Children of Dune does hit the mark as an exceptional addition to the iconic Dune series. From the get-go, it pulls you into its vast universe, blending intricate storytelling with thought provoking ideas.

However, Children of Dune felt more like Frank Herbert hitting the reset button than actually trying to progress the series. I mean he is, technically. But he is clearly setting the scene for what is to come. This felt like revisiting a friend’s beautiful house but this time I was only allowed to watch him redecorate with the promise that the house will look incredible upon my next visit. Which I believe. I’m sure it will look incredible.

So freaking boring. Honestly don't really care for the characters.

An interesting read, and mostly worth it if you’ve read the first  two, but I think it’s the weakest of the trilogy. The characters were not as interesting and the writing style was overly obtuse most of the time.
