I am not sure why people only read The Inferno. This is clearly meant to be read as a whole, the Inferno portion of the text is only placed into context when you read of the rising of Dante through the final two parts of the book.

Great, but I should have read the whole thing. Why is The Inferno published as a separate work? Do they think people will not want to read the rest of the book. If you are thinking of reading this go and read The Divine Comedy, its the book as it was written.

I wasn’t gonna rate this but the more I let it fester in my memory the more I adore it, but maybe not for the reasons Dante intended. It’s hilarious and beyond self-serving but at the same time magnificent for what it’s trying to undertake.

If I wrote a book about going to hell and meeting all my opps, only to gleefully leave then behind and that book then turned into a classic I would be absolutely insufferable.
There were a lot of references to other people that I could have done without, but it was kinda funny how Dante decided to put aristocrats and priests in hell.
The imagery was interesting, but I felt like it focused too much on the other people, and not the hell part.
