I enjoy the Tommy and Tuppence novels. This one a bit less interesting to me than the earlier ones, but still: engaging plot and lots of humor.

Another great Tommy and Tuppence mystery. I was reluctant to read non-Poirot books at first, but I’m so glad I got over that because this duo is some of her best work. I love them together and the stories are always interesting. For once, I was on to the culprit before the end of the book! Absolutely loved every minute of reading it.

I haven’t always been the biggest Agatha Christie fan, but this one surprised me! Set during WWII, this is a spy mystery, not a murder mystery— but it really sucked me in! A delightful cast of characters, crisp prose, and sharp dialogue kept me off my phone and stuck in this book.

Ini adalah buku pertama yang saya baca tentang Tommy dan Tuppence. Alasan saya membacanya karena di internet dikatakan bahwa N or M adalah salah satu buku kontroversial yang ditulis oleh Agatha Christie semasa hidupnya.

Hal tersebut membuat saya penasaran. Saya sengaja tidak membaca artikel yang membahas kontroversinya, karena saya mau membaca bukunya terlebih dahulu. Ternyata alasannya cukup sepele.

N or M bukanlah buku detektif pada umumnya, yang biasanya berkutat dengan pembunuhan dan kejahatan umum. Buku ini menggabungkan dua genre: spionase dan detektif.

Awalnya saya ragu. Karena saya belum pernah membaca novel dengan kombinasi seperti ini sebelumnya. Tapi diluar dugaan, Agatha Christie mengeksekusinya dengan sangat baik. Walaupun plotnya mudah untuk ditebak, dia tetap tahu bagaimana membuat para pembacanya tercengang dengan cara yang cerdas.

Ya, twist memang menjadi kekuatan di tema-tema detektif dan juga spionase. Dan di buku ini, twist-nya tersampaikan dengan tepat dan terasa menyenangkan.
