The Ghost and the Dead Man's Library. book 3 in the Haunted bookshop mystery series by Alice Kimberly.
Thoughts:
I'm not entirely sure about my thoughts, to be honest, but I'll attempt to put them into words, rather than rambling nonsense.
This book was a bit more engaging than the second book, but at the same time, many things we've are already aware of are repeated which seems to slow the flow of the story down.
The mysteries themselves are simplistic which on one hand is a good thing, makes for a light read, but on the other, when the reader can solve the mystery by chapter 3, the rest of the book tends to drag.
Having said that, the most enjoyable part for me, is the relationship between Jack and Penelope it's written in a very Ghost and Mrs. Muir way, not to say, it's a copy, but it has that feel too it, a deep affection that is both a bit sad, but hopeful at the same time. and then of course there is Jack himself that is extremely likable, and written very 3 dimensional. He is probably the only reason I'm interested in continuing on with the series, to find out more about his living past, and his murder.

Can a ghost be cozy?? These haunted bookshop mysteries feel pretty cozy to me. I enjoy the premise and the storytelling. Jack’s hard boiled detective persona is just enough strangeness to keep it interesting.

A good literary mystery! I like that our main character gets a lot of help from her townie cast. It makes it feel like a nice small town.

Just as good as all the others! Thoroughly enjoy these little mysteries. Pen and Jack's relationship is great & I love their interactions.

None are as good as the first but all are good. This is probably my favorite since the first book. Great light reads that pass the day nicely.

Probably my favorite reader of the audio books.

I have mixed feelings about this series. On one hand, I like the mystery aspect of it. It's never obvious who the killer is, and the storyline is easy to get into. However, the ghost is still so cheesy! He annoys me to no end, and the flirtatiousness between him and the MC is just icky to me. Because of this, I find myself not enjoying the story as much as I could. It's like reading a good book while someone is scratching their nails on a chalkboard at the same time. Overall though, the mystery of the book was good and if you can stand the ghost better than I can, I would recommend.
