This is my least favorite book in the Anne of Green Gables series. There is an annoying child named Davey who torments everyone, especially his sister. I wanted to yeet him into the sun. But unfortunately his antics are the main focus of the book, so it was a drag to get through.

Vivendo em poesia, não apenas em prosa.

Ler Anne of Avonlea foi uma ótima experiência. Anne é uma pessoa tão fascinante que dispensa comentários sobre o quanto ela nos desperta interesse. Mas vê-la nesse livro foi como rever uma amiga querida, que passou um tempo fora e tem muitas novidades para contar. A escrita do livro é muito fluída. Os capítulos não são longos, o que dá aquela impressão de "vou ler mais um capítulo para poder parar" e nisso você lê mais uns vários. Estou bastante ansioso para ver como vai ser a vida de Anne nos próximos livros, depois das coisas que aconteceram nesse livro.

This book is a charming and delightful continuation of the story of Anne of Green Gables. She continues to be irresistibly full of spunk she goes through challenges, triumphs, and humorous mishaps. The book is full of funny anecdotes, memorable characters, and plenty of heart.

This was not as good as book #1 in my opinion. It was a little slow (hence it took me longer to finish). It also seemed less focused. Anne didn't feel like a main character or like she was driving the plot. She was just 'there' with a series of events happening around her rather than to her. I also didn't like Davy or Paul. I found them annoying and intrusive and distracting. Less of them. More Anne. This is HER story.

However, there was still some lovely setting description and a few one-liners from Anne that kept me reading.I really hope more of Anne & Gilbert's relationship is explored in the next book (I like the little hints here) as it's really the more interesting storyline (and I so wish it had been developed more in this book).

So, I was a bit disappointed, but I am hopeful for the rest of the series, which I will continue pursuing.
