Quick enjoyable read. I want to read the next in the series.

The Lost Key by Catherine Coulter and J.T. Ellison is a 2015 Jove publication.

Another action-packed thriller in the “Brit in the FBI” series!

The first book in this series was a very clever caper style thriller, but this second book is a globe-trotting adventure tale, and is every bit as entertaining!!

It’s Nicholas’s first official day of work for the FBI and he makes quite an impression after a man is killed on Wall Street. The story takes off from there, when several puzzling leads direct Nicholas and his partner, Mike, towards a high level organization, a cache of gold, and a very dangerous weapon, but the key they need to unlock the treasure is lost.

With the bodies piling up, Nicholas and Mike must race against the clock to prevent the weapon from falling into very dangerous hands.

The pacing here is a bit slower, but the plot is much more intricate, with a large cast of characters to keep up with.

We learn more about Nicholas’ past, but Mike’s personal life is not as fleshed out, again- as of yet, anyway, but I hope we get a little more of her backstory soon.

This story has a ‘James Bond’ feel to in a way and is purely for fun and entertainment. This story is just what the doctor ordered for me this week, offering an escape from some hefty issues. I can’t wait to find out what Nicholas and Mike will be working on next!!

Nicholas Drummond is at his first day with the FBI and he and his partner are called out to a stabbing. Now let me say this is no ordinary stabbing because it results in them running all over New York City, and flying to Europe. It involves in Nicholas accidentally killing someone who has a poison tabled in their tooth. All this because of a secret society dating back before World War I.

The second book in the series is even better than the first. The book begins on Nicholas Drummond's first day a an FBI Special Agent. His partner is Mike Caine whom we met in The Final Cut. The book is full of action and suspense. The characters are likable and engaging. It is interesting to watch their relationship develop. The book takes place over two days. There is a lot of murder and mayhem. I can't wait for book 3.

Not my favorite Catherine Coulter, but worth reading. Lots of action with many twists and turns.
Nicholas Drummond is a hunky new agent that continually leaves destruction in his wake. Savage and Sherlock are only a small part of this book and I really like their characteres. I will have to read more with Drummond.

I enjoyed this as much as the first Drummond and Caine book. I will definitely read Brit in the FBI #3. Fast paced and highly enjoyable.

Not as good as the first book. While the bad guys in the first book were multi-dimensional and sympathetic enough to at least seem like good guys in their own minds, the villains in this were cartoonishly evil and only after power/money. Also, the plot was too often predictable. For example,
as soon as the two agents are told to meet two people at this one good guy's house, I knew immediately that the homeowner would be dead and the other guy probably taken by the time the agents arrived, if the agents even got there
. I also find that between the flashbacks, the Order, and all the various villains, there are too many new characters for me to keep track of, and many of them I can't remember or figure out how they connect to the others (especially with the flashbacks). The book does have a nice satisfying ending, though.
