The series is fine. It's cute and perfect for YA because everything wraps up very nicely (and it moves fast). Entertaining if you need a distraction. It would make a fantastic gift for an early teen.
Such a beautiful and wonderful book! It's set up in a way that the story could continue, but also it can end right where it is. Just as amazing as the first book with just as beautiful of a cover!
I honestly can't say a ton without spoiling anything from the first book, but this is definitely a duology I recommend!
The genre would be fantasy but with a historical kind of feel to it. If you love books about sea adventures and beautiful gems with strong female characters, then this book is for you!

Fable is back with treacherous pirates, political masterminds...and some new powerful connections.
This book picks up from when we last saw Fable, she was in a bit of a bind and separated from her Marigold crew. In this second book (I think it's a duology), we see more substance from the side characters. I loved seeing Willa open up...and surprisingly even Koy. It was an exciting feeling watching Fable fill in the gaps of her family history.
What I loved most about this duology was the world building - the terrain of Jeval, the markets in Dern, the vibrant feel of Ceros - I am a sucker for the Pirates of Caribbean films, mainly for the setting and costumes. This duology gave me that same feeling.
The romance in this book was not just about the attraction between Wes and Fable, but the relationships around her - Saint, Willa, Koy, Clove, Hamish, Paj, Auster, and even her late mother Isolde. This series was about Fable coming to terms with her place in the world - what she could be, who she is.
I might be reading too much into it LOL. What do you think?
Overall, a spectacular young adult action-romance. My only stipulation is that I wish it had more action - swordfights, gunfights, bullfights - whichever!
