It’s possible I went in with too high of expectations given that The Lost Apothecary was so good, but I had trouble getting through this. The story itself was good and her writing is done well but I just wasn’t buying the progression. It was so predictable and at times I questioned the rational of certain character’s actions. Because of this, I found it difficult to like any of the characters.
Ultimately it wasn’t bad but isn’t one I’ll read again.

I think that this book was really interesting and there definitely was a twist at the end for me. If you like who dunnit books with a touch of the paranormal, I think you'll enjoy it too.

3.5 rather than a straight 4. It was a fun book, but there were elements I could've done without. I did enjoy it more than the Lost Apothecary.

The Good:
- Really engaging setting and concept, fun characters
- Loved our leading ladies

The Bad:
- I really could've done without the 1st person POV from Mr. Morley. Particularly from the middle on, I didn't love how it moved the plot, and didn't feel it was necessary, detracting from rather than adding to the pacing.
