It was alright I enjoyed the plot and setting, the only thing I didn't enjoy was that the writing style wasn't my favorite

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️❤️❤️
Sometime in Summer by Katrina Leno is most definitely a “book of my heart.” It has nothing to do with quality and writing and technical perfection and everything to do with just hitting me right in the feels.
I love this story. Anna Lucia Bell ( yes, Lucia! My own daughter’s name) has just turned 14 when she learns that her mom will be selling their family’s beloved bookstore, in which she has basically grown up. Anna‘s 13th year was eventful, it was the year her parents decided to separate. And just as she learns that the bookstore will close , she also learns that she and her mom will be spending the summer in Rockport, Massachusetts ( which also happens to be one of my favorite places on the planet) in the cottage where her mom spent every summer growing up. The summer in Rockport turns out to be magical, mystical, and a time of healing in more ways than one.
This was such a lovely, low key, coming of age, bookish, glass of wine on the porch kind of book. It was just what I needed.
Can I also admit that I actually related so much more to the mom then to the teenager during this one? Often times in YA, I find that I relate to both the kid and the parent. But in this one I mostly related to the parent. But I looked at Anna from a motherly POV.

Pick this up if you love Rockport, MA (as I do), the Gilmore Girls, and gentle YA.

Loved loved loved.

CW: Divorce, Near Death Experiences

I love this book. We follow a girl named Anna, who finds out her parents are getting divorced. They're also selling their family bookstore. Her mother takes her on a trip away from Los Angelos to a small town in Massachusetts. Here she'll learn about herself, and life, and how sometimes things can be unexpected and happen randomly.
I love the exploration of family, and friendship. It was magical and honest. The time travel aspects were intriguing and a great way to advance the story and the character's motivations. Everyone should give this book a chance.

A sweet middle grade (more than YA) book about a young 14 year old girl dealing with her parent's divorce and the summer she spends on Cape Cod helping her mother pack up the beach house while also magically meeting younger versions of her parents. Full of heart and magical realism. Recommended for fans of Rachel Lynn Solomon and great on audio.

Gonna let this book sit with me, just to make sure I'm not overrating it, as it's my first book I've finished since January.

But I loved Sometime In Summer. I loved how elements of it (no spoilers) took vibes from We Were Liars by E. Lockheart (at least in my head). I loved the twist that kept me guessing. I loved the overall atmosphere.

Okay. Reading slump over. Let's start summer!

I guessed the plot twist about halfway through but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment of reading this at all. It made me homesick for New England summers though.

It’s truly a wonderful love letter to Massachusetts. I’m glad I picked it it up. I just wish I knew what book changed my life.
