Mention of: homophobia, hate crime, imprisonment, confinement, loss of a parent, and abandonment.

The outwardly grumpy [internally golden retriever] writer who falls for the bubbly/sunshine librarian...yes! Adored this story and all the characters in it.

Intense from start to finish. Cole is a perfect MC with tattoos and works at an animal shelter while trying to get his first book published. Honestly he would be a Mary Sue if he didn't have a past. Summer is a librarian with a VERY bubbly personality and a teensy stalker problem. I guessed the stalker early on since there weren't many suspects. Plenty of traumatic back stories to be had and mommy and daddy issues abound. Spicy scenes were hot.
LGBT representation present with at least 2 characters. This book does tackle the issues of teenage homelessness and homophobia rather well.
