I loved everything about this.

Every character is beautifully written and complex and I saw parts of myself reflected in each of them at different moments during the book. The sheer amount of diversity in this book is incredible and Jude and Jamie have now permanently cemented themselves in my heart.

The music references were also on point, (though Take on Me has been stuck in my head for so long, I fear it's never going to leave) and the atmosphere and descriptions of Scotland had such a cosy feel to them.

Gilmartin deals with such difficult subjects in such an unflinchingly truthful way but it's never too much to handle and there's always a hopeful undertone to them.

I never wanted this book to end and I'm already looking forward to re-reading it.
