oh hell, i've been reading too many crappy books in one go. i used to think the beginning of everything by robyn schneider was horrible but who knew i would end up meeting a far more terrible contender? #famous is full of flaws and throughout my entire time of reading this book, i've just been waiting for the moment where i finally get to the last page and trash this book.
firstly, all of the characters are flawed. the only sane and realistic, three-dimensional one would probably have to be emma and toby. yes, emma was pretty much a horrid bitchy manipulator but she was very much realistic and identical to certain people you would meet in real life. toby was also the only logical dude who actually used his brain. my man toby deserved more. anyway, i've never met any two characters who i've wanted to punch in the face more than kyle and rachel.
kyle was a full on dick, i hated his character and despised him to the maximum. he not only juggled with both girls, he pretty much took advantage of rachel in the beginning and was very much dense. i suspect that kyle not only is an attention seeker but one who also has an extremely low EQ level. he's also a mega creep. in one chapter, he imagines how rachel's bedroom looks like and that was a big bruh moment for me. like if any guy tried to imagine how my bedroom looked like after roughly 5 days of talking, i would be freaked out. one more part in the book which i found ridiculous was around chapter 33? this is the actual sentence: "I’d gone to bed feeling kinda good. I woke up remembering the look on Emma’s face as she ran down the stairs. Hurt, and angry, and ready. I did that. Oof." WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THAT RESPONSE? who just says 'oof' after remembering that they have hurt someone pretty badly??
kyle also thinks of rachel when his ex girlfriend is crying. like okay, we get that you're somehow obsessed with your new toy after like a week of meeting but come on bro, that's not right. the author honestly turned kyle from a cute, innocent dude to this mess of a player. oh and PLEASE, FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR READERS, dear author, please stop inserting the word 'oof' after every mess up from kyle. it's so annoying to see kyle just respond with 'oof' every five sentences. it doesn't even make sense because only 13 year olds respond that way, NOT 17 YEAR OLD SENIORS?
rachel was a pretty weak character. just like kyle, she is incredibly dense when it comes to society and life in general. whereas in the case of kyle, there was at least a relationship built on my distaste for him, there was nothing that made me want to admire rachel. she was very much insignificant, dumb, petty and a pushover. her friendship with mo was also cringeworthy. not to mention, mo also took advantage of rachel, was a horrible friend (i'm not even sure whether for who's advantage) and is a total manipulator. i wasn't kidding when i said that all the characters are flawed.
the whole book made me want to spit out blood. and the part where kyle goes up to take rachel to homecoming, like lol. fries all over the path to the house? that's just dumb. and a waste of fries! i'm not even going to bother reviewing about the plot because if the characters are shite, what makes you think the plot is any better?
i have a feeling that my dislike for this book probably has to do with my growing out of YA fiction. maybe my 12 year old self would have enjoyed #famous but definitely not 17 year old me right now. i genuinely hope that i would never have to stumble upon any book as bad as this one for the rest of my life.
good riddance to this one.

oooh sorry, I just.... I don’t feel it that much. Possible that that one star is for Monique, mostly because we share the same name.
Like a similar review I read, this is very much the story of alex from target. It was entertaining to read about how fast something on the internet goes viral and the implications that can happen from it.
