A beautifully emotional story. I really enjoyed the coming of age aspect and how it was mainly told from Leni's pov. I loved the community aspect and the wild landscape of Alaska. It is slow paced, but as it is mostly character focused that worked for the story. Some of the side characters and their interactions fell a little flat for me. But I thought the family dynamic and emotions were done really well.

This book is phenomenal! It encompasses adventure, love, danger, family - making me not want to put it down.  The characters Leni, Matthew, Mr Walker, Large Marge are all so lovable, I want a sequel of where Leni et al are later on and what they’re up to, I think I could read about Alaska adventures forever!

Highly recommend! Stunning story of a family moving to Alaska unprepared & learning to survive in its wilderness. Lots of twists and turns & emotionally packed.
