Wow. Another amazing story from Kristin Hannah. She has a way of telling stories that leave you completely enthralled and captivated the entire time. I felt like I knew Lenny and her family by the end of the story. I would recommend to anyone interested in any of Kirstin’s novels. She is a very talented writer. I felt like I was in Alaska - experiencing the story with the characters.

Lenora moves to Alaska on a whim with her mom and dad. Moving to Alaska unprepared is basically a death sentence, especially if your dad is an unstable Vietnam veteran with severe PTSD from being a POW. When humans and nature can be equally dangerous, it makes for a tense story.

I'd recommend this for readers who liked Where the Crawdads Sing. It's set in a secluded environment, features toxic parents, and two protagonists are teenagers in love. For a similar book that's more on the thriller side, I'd recommend These Silent Woods by  Kimi Cunningham Grant.

Amazing book. Very emotional. Predicted some twists but many were a surprise. Great story of community and human flaws.
Fantastic ending - did not expect Matthew to be alive

This story was heartbreaking, beautiful, frustrating, joyful, and everything in between! It made me want to visit Alaska so badly to experience it for myself! But also made me grateful for indoor plumbing and electricity lol

I absolutely enjoyed this book! It was mainly in Leni's perspective, a 13 yr old girl pulled to Alaska when her father came back from being a POW in the Vietnam War, and he came back a very different person! Leni and her mother walk on eggshells to try to keep him happy!
