Amazing book! When I first got it, I set it aside and didn't read it for about a year. When I did finally pick it up, I couldn't put it down! I am very glad I go it and that I finally read it. It is a great mixture of mystery and friendship with a little bit of romance slipped in there as well.

It was a light, entertaining read. The character interactions were fun but predictable. Good if you're looking for an easy read.

This one is actually a tricky book to rate. If I were rating this on the overall literary quality of a book, it would be a 2, but if I were to rate it on a "summer easy read," it would be higher. It's just not nearly in the same playing field as some of my other recent reads, like The Bell Jar or Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, but isn't as bad as I perceived Tiger's Wife to be... So - I went with an average.

Statistics and ratings aside, I did enjoy it tremendously. I had just finished a few books that were pretty intense reads, and one that I didn't necessarily love. I really, really, really needed something light. This was PERFECT. Predictable, of course, but that was okay.

The storylines are simplistic - girls who didn't really "get" each other in high school create a bond as adults, boys who they never expected come into their lives... As with her other books, there's an element of magic that while is a bit far fetched, isn't ridiculously over the top. The characters of the grandmothers (while interesting) weren't developed in depth, and I would have loved to have heard more about the historical element of the story than the author gave.

There was one quote from the book that I actually loved - “Happiness is a risk. If you’re not a little scared, then you’re not doing it right.” There are far too many people in the world that never experience it because they don't open themselves up to the possibility. For whatever reason, that quote sort of stuck.

Shippavo Paxton/Sebastian con furore. Beh, anche Willa/Colin, ovviamente.
Il realismo magico è molto ben riuscito.

Such a beautiful story of friendship, growing up, love and loyalty to those who really mean a lot to you.

I found this book because I was standing in the library trying to figure out what to read, and I googled “books set in the South.” Luckily, this one happened to actually be checked in, so I snagged it off the shelf. I wasn’t too sure about it because usually when romance-esque books try to include a mystery they just fail, but people on the internet seemed to like it, so I gave it a try, and boy am I glad that I did.

If you like romance/mystery books, or even just want books set in the South, you should definitely give this one a try.

I was surprised by this book because there wasn’t a single character that I didn’t care about. I would have liked to know more about Agatha and Georgie though, like maybe an entire book of just them would have been great. I may have accidentally shipped it.

To be honest, I’m not generally a huge fan of books that are mostly centered on romance, but this one had enough of a focus on other things, like why there is a body buried under the peach tree, that the romance portions didn’t really bother me. Except the parts with Paxton and Sebastian, those kind of bugged me. Willa and Colin were kind of cute though.

I also felt like there was some information that was revealed fairly abruptly, and without much setup, but overall it was actually a fairly decent mystery plot.
