My real score is actually 2.5/5 starts, but I'm not going to round it up to 3/5 since it's just a spinoff :/ Also, I want kinda disappointed to find out that this book was actually about Four/Tobias retelling some important scenes from "Divergent" in his point of view. I was really hoping it focused on the events that happened after "Allegiant", and how he copes with life. But I still enjoyed reading his backstory :)
I honestly didn't care much about "Four", but it really bothers me when I don't finish something I started, so I HAD to read it. I guess I kinda liked it since I thought Four/Tobias's character was very interesting (and I honestly just wanted to imagine Theo James telling the story lol). Plus, I knew there would be some FourTris fan service which I kinda enjoy. Other than that, there were some extras in here that made me question him since he knew a lot more than I thought he did (I'd explain what they were but that would be a big spoiler).

I love the character of Four from the original series. There is nothing wrong with this book but it is very repetitive and redundant because it follows almost the same storyline and plot that the start of Divergent does. Because of that I can’t rate it any higher than I have. Overall, I liked it but I don’t think she did all that she could have with this complex character.

I enjoyed reading some of these stories from Four's POV. Sometimes it seemed a little too "the same" as Divergent, but I know that's because it's the same events for the most part, just from a different character POV. I definitely enjoyed the story about Four's past and his transfer to Dauntless, that was the best portion.

It's a very good representation of tobias' prospective through out the novel. I'm aware towards the end of alligent after tris dies that tobias has to move on at some point, but WHY CHRISTINA?!?! That was her best friend like. And I understand that grief brings people closer but really. I did however like the parts in the novel that were in divergent from tobias' perspective like the famous "you look good tris"

3.85* for not enough Four
4.25* for what this book gave us about the character and how this was a well written book and an easy read.

Yes, two ratings... am I cheating? Goodreads, update your ratings, stat! They're lacking!!

From the moment, almost, I saw Four in the movie Divergent, I have been intrigued by him and found him interesting. His backstory and the glimpses we got of it made me really curious so, of course, when this was released, I wanted to get my hands on it and... what do you know, found it twice at the thrift store (and bought it twice as I didn't remember I already bought it once *laughs*

I loved reading about him pre-choosing Dauntless and 2 years before meeting Tris and the whole Divergent issue with the Erudite/Dauntless shenanigans. We delved more into his personna before, during and after the choosing and got to know more about his story and who he is. Then again, I was still left wanting more. This felt too short. Of course, this is all based prior to and during Divergent so of course there is more to tell but once Tris came in the picture and they became an item... he kinda took a step back... somehow.

It was still a really nice touch and I totally enjoyed this read. It was easy and fun and overall well done. Four (Tobias), is a character you want to get to know more about and this did the job... and yes, broken record... not quite enough for me.
