I found the book to be very dark and quite upsetting personally. There are numerous scenes depicting abuse, neglect, and even rape. While I acknowledge that it is well-written and an overall commendable work of dark fiction, one must appreciate the style to truly enjoy it. Unfortunately, it does not align with my personal taste, and it's not a book I would choose to read again. It doesn't evoke a positive feeling upon completion. On the flip side, there is intriguing character development for the main character, Marek.

I didn’t know what to expect with this one… and after finishing it, I’m not sure how to describe it!

There’s a lot going on here and some of the most incredibly grotesque descriptions I think I’ve ever read. Did it gross me out?.. yep. But did I continue reading because I was so intrigued?… also yes.

The imagery is haunting, the story is bizarre and the writing is insanely good!

I can definitely see how this book divides opinions. I loved it more than I hated it.

I love the commentary on religion and class. However, this book also comments on things that most books don’t acknowledge and it gets gross. I simply didn’t have the stomach for it, which is not to say that this book is bad. For me it’s a definite 4 stars, but, the open talk of poop, semen, spit, and breast milk..i couldn’t eat and read this.

SPOILERS!!!

I pushed through but i skipped the grape scene because i felt nauseous, and then I made it to Ina eating spiders and later eating another human. I just couldn’t do it 😭.
