I didn’t like his choppy writing style with odd descriptions (“eyes sit inside deep sockets where a melon ball. scooper might’ve gone to work’). What?!

Either the authors writing style or the way they wrote just this book is not for me. It felt very disjointed and I felt more time confused than not. Sort of written like a school essay that the requirement was a certain amount of sentences

I found it difficult to get used to the writing style. The ending felt a little strange to me. For me, part of the appeal of reading about killers is to understand motivations that could lead to that, so finding out everything he said was a lie felt unsatisfying.
