Another fun and funny Heyer book (Beaumaris' grudging acceptance of the dog was funny). I love how the male characters are just swept off their feet but seem to have no idea how it happens.
The only slightly uncomfy aspect to these novels is the main male character is around 30, while the female protagonist (and love interest) is like 16 or 17. I know it was common for the time, but from a contemporary perspective it feels a bit eek.

The one where the second of 8 children (Arabella Talent) of a penniless Vicar in Yorkshire tells the Nonpareil Mr Beaumaris that she is an heiress, is then the hit of the London season, falls for Mr Beaumaris and he falls for her.
I love all of Georgette Heyer's Regency romances but "Arabella" will always be in my top three favorites, along with "The Nonesuch" and "Frederica". It is a charming tale of a high-spirited country girl enjoying her first London season. Due to a chance meeting of the most eligible bachelor of the ton, she enters into a lie, which then complicates what would normally have been a most enjoyable debut. "Arabella" has all the hallmarks of Heyer's most engaging novels and takes the reader on a memorable tour of the upper class of English society. If you love Regency stories, romances, history, or just a good, old-fashioned story, this book shouldn't be missed.

Classical G. Heyer story with the wit, the english gentleman that cannot make full sentences (Felix 😜) and the romance...

A book that actually has me giggling and laughing out loud. Especially whenever Ulysses is around.
4,5 estrellas
