This story has shifted to focusing even more on the agents and keeps including the girls from the first two books in a way that doesn't seem wholly organic or necessary. This ends up reading more like a Slice of Life drama than a mystery/crime story. The case underlying the story is stronger than the previous book, but the foreshadowing/use of a foil is heavy handed and the case becomes incidental by the time it wraps up. The first of the series I got exasperated by. I hope the next one returns to form.

This book, like the 2nd book, has its own story. Yet, it still ties in characters and events into this one. I think I like this one almost as much as the 1st one. I have to move on to the next book in this series. I can't get enough of this series.

A solid 3 star read. I wasn’t as invested in this book as the butterfly garden, and I skipped over the second book all together because the reviews were rough. The family dynamic between the agents was very ncis/criminal minds like but it was a fun quick read.
