I really enjoyed this book. A good crime, suspense part, some romance in it, I love the relationship that all the characters have together. It was a good book. The only big issue I have is that it was a little predictable, I was able to tell who the person was right when the characters first interacted with them so I would have liked a little bit more of a surprise. But overall I really enjoyed this read.

I liked this one better than the second book but not quite as much as the first. The actual story was quite good but it was obnoxious when there were random Spanish words/phrases thrown in to remind the reader that our narrator is Hispanic when there weren't really any other nods to her culture except that (in this book) it encouraged abuse. I think I'd rather just not have any references to her culture included than have them be so awkwardly done and negative.

These books just keep getting better and better. I hope the author keeps writing them.
dark medium-paced

"Once upon a time there was a little girl who was scared of angels. Then she met one, and she wasn't afraid anymore."

This is an amazing third story in this series. Filled with all new horrors and a new struggle for the agents that seem to have nearly seen it all. We see the butterflies once again and how they are struggling with the world they find themselves in as well.

I liked that I didn't guess the ending, that this was a quick read full of twists and turns but also full of personal touches to give us more story to these agents. I didn't want it to be over when i'd turned the last page. I hope we see more from this author!

I liked learning more about Mercedes and her background. It was interesting to see why she was the way that she was. Good details from the other books and the in between chapters were sad at time.

This book was powerful, and devastating. But beautiful and so inspiring. I truly loved the perspective of Mercedes.

⚠️ CW: murder, domestic abuse, child abuse, sexual abuse, paedophilia, rape and sexual assault ⚠️ I think at this stage it's safe to say that Dot Hutchison has become one of my favourite authors! 😍 When Agent Mercedes Ramirez finds an abused young boy on her porch, covered in blood and clutching a teddy bear, she has no idea that this is just the beginning. He tells her a chilling tale of an angel that killed his parents and then brought him here so Mercedes could keep him safe. His parents weren’t just murdered. It was a slaughter, a rage kill like no one on the Crimes Against Children team has seen before. But they’re going to see it again. An avenging angel is meting out savage justice, and she’s far from through. One by one, more children arrive at Mercedes’ door with the same horror story. Each one a traumatized survivor of an abusive home. Each one chafing at Mercedes’ own scars from the past. And each one taking its toll on her life and career. Now, as the investigation draws her deeper into the dark, Mercedes is beginning to fear that if this case doesn’t destroy her, her memories might. This was one hell of a read. It had me hooked and feeling a rollercoaster of emotions all the way to the end. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the way Dot Hutchison is able to write such dark and gut wrenching situations is so hauntingly beautiful. Overall, I highly recommend this book and the series as a whole but please check the CW's before reading.
