DNF at about 50%. I was just not impressed with this book. I LOVED The Butterfly Garden and thought The Roses of May was okay...I couldn't finish this one. It just lost my interest after a while. It felt like there were political aspects added that were just sort of randomly placed. The dialogue came off a little cheesy and I couldn't really connect with Mercedes.

really good end to the series. I enjoyed this better than book 2, and really liked learning Mercedes' story.
Love, love, love this series! I hope Ms. Hutchison writes a million more of these. I love the creativity of each of her books. They are so unique and they draw you in. The stories/mysteries are engaging and keep me reading until way too late, and the characters and the sense of family they build between one another is something I can just get lost in. Highly recommend all three books, but this one is tied for my favorite with "The Butterfly Garden". I love the creativity of each of her books. They are so unique and they draw you in.

No explanations from the last book (why did Bliss change her name...? Is The Gardener still alive...?) and no resolutions from this book (did the father get out of prison? Did Mercedes wrap things up with her family). Honestly? I'm just finishing the series so I can say I've finished it. But I'm not happy about it.
Not as strong as the previous in the series, IMHO, but just as nail-biting. The crew is back, and with a new crime to solve. Mercedes gets pulled into this story personally so she's got to work around the rules of the FBI to figure out who the "Angel" is.
Listened to this one on audiobook, like the previous installment. It's interesting how - correct me if I'm wrong - each book has completely different formats. Last one had dual narrators, this one only has one. I suspect the fourth book could also have dual narration, but I won't know for sure until I start it later on this week. The narrator for this one is quite good, no complaints there.
In some ways, this was more interesting than their previous case, but in some ways it also wasn't. At this point, I'm not sure if anything can top the first book, which really started the series off with a bang. If you love the characters though, and want to see what happens to them after the Garden, I recommend reading the sequels. The books seem to be spaced apart a year(ish) or more each time, so you get a peek into their lives in the long run.
Not sure I have much more to say. My review for the previous book was unusually long and this one seems unusually short. Might come back to this if I have more thoughts.
