An excellent first mystery in the series.  I especially enjoyed the characters and look forward to reading the next book.

Super fun, very quick, definitely engaging! All of the content warnings I've added have the caveat of period typical.

a fun murder mystery with some effortlessly witty writing, really easy to read. also, as sb with chronic pain, it was really cool seeing a disabled woman as the sherlock holmes of the story :')

Well this book was such a whirlwind read. I enjoyed this 1940s murder mystery unfold through the investigation and the unralling of the case, its suspects and the investigators. Although I guessed the culprit early on the story still had parts I didn't see coming. I thought the 2 main character of ms Pentecost and  Ms Parker the ultimate team from there meeting their bond and relationship was perfect! Ms pentecost's Ms, quick mind and determination made her a force to recond with. All elements of this story were superbly through out and I hope this series continues equally as good.
