the characters were great and will’s narration style was entertaining. loved the wlw as well as the dynamic btwn will and pentecost. a bunch of highlight-worthy lines that weren’t too corny/cringey.
that being said, i never found myself super excited about the story and so maybe the wow factor of the reveal(s)/conclusion was lost bc too much time passed while i was reading and i wasn’t invested.
i don’t think this is a spoiler but hiding it in case anyone reads it like one: the title makes absolutely no sense and it irks me lol

I called the murderer about 20% in and I wavered (like in any good murder mystery) but came out victorious which is my favorite kind of mystery novel.

Delightful! I loved both Pentecost and Parker! A great setting (NYC 1945) too. P&P are private investigators who work with the police (to a degree) but also understand the shortcomings and oversights of law enforcement. Really excited for more in this series.

Rep: Pentecost has multiple sclerosis and Parker is queer (she never uses a label for herself but talks about dating both men and women).
