i love murder mysteries, i love historical fiction set in the wwll era, and i love women, so this was a hit on all marks for me. i really enjoyed will’s classic 1940s street detective slang and diction (i half expected her to say “beat it toots, the streets ain’t what they used to be”) her dynamic with ms. pentecost was oddly heartwarming to see them care for each other in their own ways. i really enjoyed this!!

(pride month read 5/30)

Reading this I felt completely immersed in 1940s New York. Everything aspect felt very fleshed out. The mystery was interesting but my favourite part was Pentecost and Parker. I loved the glimpse we get into their life and relationship. Also, it concluded beautifully. I so look forward to reading the following books in the series
