I found this book to be slow moving but towards the end, the twist and turns were thrown at you!
I was really excited to read this book since I love the TV show Bones, but I learned that it really has very little in common with the show with the exception of the main character and her occupation.
That being said, it's still a good read, but it moves slowly at first and sometimes bogs down with details. For those who speak French, the translations are redundant, and for those that have studied science the explanations are unnecessary. There are still enough plot twists to make it a quick, worth-while beach read for fans of thrillers, but fans of the show should be warned. It's very well researched, and the author clearly writes about what she knows, so the book focuses much less on the interpersonal relationships and much more on the case at hand.

Another good read from Kathy Reichs. It was interesting to learn a bit about being a forensic linguist.
I'm always picking up the "Bones" books when I can find them for cheap because I love the show, but the books always disappoint me a bit. I sometimes find them to be a bit slow moving, and find Tempe and Ryan a bit difficult to connect with.
This book, however, was not a disappointment. The mystery hooked me right away and I couldn't bring myself to put it down. Definitely a good, quick read for mystery lovers.

I liked this way more than I thought I would; delightfully complex and twisty.

As expected! This filled the "almost-mindless fluff" category for me, which was what I was looking for. Reichs has a way of introducing real problems and history, which I appreciate... and the science keeps me coming back. Tempe herself is a pretty frustrating character, and this book was no exception. The dialog is sometimes cringe-worthy, and the "eye rolling" is absurd... but that's not why I read these.
Love it so far. I love the connection to her childhood.

I accidently figured out one part of the mystery by reading the back of an unrelated book and then connecting dots. That said, I enjoyed this one. I enjoyed that Tempe did not need a man to rescue her and that she didn't get into dumb situations. I also am really hating this Tempe/Ryan shit. I get that love and live are complicated, more so when you work with someone and when other people are involved. However it feels like she is giving them barriers just to give them barriers and it is a pain.
