so there were about 10 and a half good poems in this. (For the record there are 77 poems in here - def on purpose very clever — which makes about 13% of this good)
The “titles” honestly were better than just about every poem.
Middle school me would’ve ATE THIS UP tho

I disagree that she wrote this to romanticize abusive relationships. Rather to demonstrate the cognitive dissonance and craziness in such relationships. If you’ve been in one, you know. I do wish there was a little more depth to some of them, and only a couple really stuck out to me, but I do respect her for being able to write about it and hope she has some healing. I don’t really follow Megan Fox in the news or anything, so I have no clue.

I think these are important poems to be written and they are important to the writer. Maybe I’m just not one for poetry, but these were giving tumblr circa 2010.

I love the poetry as a creative and therapeutic outlet for her. I love the vulnerability and rawness of it all.

It is dark, it could be triggering, and unfortunately, so much of what’s in these pages resonates with me, and other women who have suffered at the hands and minds of men.
Subjectively, Woman to woman, I love that she has a space for processing trauma through writing this book. I applaud her for the courage and bravery it took to publish these poems.

Objectively as a reader, I won’t be buying a physical copy of this to keep on my trophy shelf and reread in the future.
Some of the writing fell flat, a lot of the poems are blatantly obvious as to who they are about and what exactly happened. While this isn’t a bad thing, I prefer a poem that holds a bit of mystery, imagery and leaves the reader open to interpreting the words.

I hope she continues to pursue writing as an art form
