Wanted to read a few poems before bed… devoured the entire book in one sitting. 5 star for sheer vulnerability.

Listen… this is one of the better celebrity poetry books out there. I do love a good 2014 Tumblr era poem, and some of these are quite good. Some aren’t. This should have BEEN its own Tumblr tbh.

I hope Megan heals because damn 😭

I finished this, but only barely. It made me cringe from cover to cover. It felt very shallow to me.

Women never deserve the carnage of men's fears, insecurities, and fragile egos. Megan Fox shows us how women can gain their strength and dignity back one day at a time in this collection.

Any man that abuses women for sport needs to read this collection to see just how vile and rotten he is and how he may destroy the ones he loves.

Any woman that feels unloved and unseen from the abuse, rage, and pity from a man, must read this collection to know that she definitely has a fighting chance.

Fox made me want to be right by her side and ride at dawn with her. Women are so fierce but we don't need pretty boys to fuck up our lives. We can do bad by our damn selves.

This is a solid collection of poetry, but it is dark, sad, and depressing.

Super short, relatable, but not so entertaining.

Pretty Boys are Poisonous by Megan Fox visualizes the struggle and abuse of domestic violence relationships. Fox mainly uses analogies to evoke emotion in the reader, but her message really shines in the few poems that use metaphor and juxtaposition. Most of the poems in this collection use free verse, but there are also a few witty found poems. If you would like to understand Megan Fox a bit more or are interested in the theme, do pick up the book. I especially recommend this book if you are a fan of Rupi Kaur or R.H. Sin, but if you are looking for something more substantial and professional, look elsewhere. Some of the poems the Simon editorial team agreed to include are severely underdeveloped and are a waste of paper. Other short poems could be consolidated into much more effective longer ones. If you take your chances and discover that the poems aren't working for you, this collection also includes some beautiful artwork by Audrey Kawasaki, which I wouldn't mind having on my coffee table.

These were tragic. Content wise, 95% of them were about men’s abusive behavior to her. I can’t say I enjoyed any of them. Just wasn’t for me.
(And wow, who hurt her this much, yikes.)
