emotional funny informative inspiring reflective

My favorite part of this book was the artwork featured. Although I could feel the pain and trauma in the words of the poems at times the overall poems themselves felt off at times.

What heartbreaking poems. The last two were absolutely gut wrenching.

Okayyyy Megan! I went into this one very skeptical, and felt justified when she started talking about chakras and stuff in the intro. That bit was weird, but once she gets into the actual poetry, a lot of it is really beautifully written! Having been in a long, off-and-on toxic ass relationship with a very damaged man admittedly made a LOT of it very familiar and relatable. Definitely recommend as a quick read if you're a woman feeling fed up with the male species!

“Our therapist asks us to close our eyes imagine ourselves old and at the end of our lives. He asks is this, your beloved, the person who’s holding your hand as you die? Eagerly you say yes. Yes it’s me holding your hand it’s sunset and I’m there smiling weeping as i release you after our very long and joyful life together back to the universe now it’s my turn to answer i realize that no it’s not you holding my hand as i die it’s a nurse named Cathy because you stopped at a bar to listen to a bunch of college girls tell you that you grew up listening to your music they tell you you’re a legend your eyes sparkle as you live through their giggles and lip gloss and now i take my last breath with fucking Cathy she will not smile she will not weep she will check the time as her shift ends in eleven minutes.” The ghost of Christmas future • Meghan Fox

What I thought would be a memoir was instead a book of poems about the horrendous abuse that she has endured. WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THIS?? I am filled with devastation and rage for her.

Something about Megan Fox’s words heal me. So many of these hit home. So short idk if I’d count it as a book but that’s my only complaint.
