Neue Charaktere. Story Wendungen. Man fühlt sich mittlerweile zuhause.

Besides the short story collections, this is the best book in the series so far. The characters are all interesting and distinct, Regis and Milva being the most compelling. Geralt also shows more complexity in this novel compared to the previous ones. The disturbing post-battle scenes are well-done. Lots of great imagery and scenes that I'm still thinking about, especially
bodies hanging from trees; the night sky glowing from burning villages; the battle on the bridge over the Yaruga River; and Geralt getting his knighthood, becoming Geralt of Rivia
.
