This is a great start if the series. It is an original idea that can go places. It's a total five star book.

I think I am one of the only people that didn't like this book. I was confused in many parts and I didn't see what so many people love about it.

Excellent children's book! A very adventurous tale woven with great imagination. Pulls in a morbid and fantastical fairy tale world-ideal for children's [and my] imaginations.

The writing is way more verbose than I remember, but I love the storyline. 5 stars for nostalgia

I was in love with this series between the ages of about 10 and 14. I recently reread the first book for probably the 10th time and figured it was about time I wrote something about it on here.

This book has a slow start with a lot of set up. Because of this, I actually didn't finish it the first time I sat down to read. But once the story gets started, the world building is spectacular, and I was hooked for all 7 books in the series.

A reread of a childhood beloved series, I’d forgotten so much of what happens in this book and loved rediscovering during the read. Arthur is just a kid dealing with a lot of responsibility but he still has so much heart. Love the setting and how absurd but interesting the House and the Denizens are!
