Another fantasy novel where a millennia-old protagonist stalks, grooms, and preys on a teenager. I'd be insulted if it weren't just so trite at this point. Other stuff happens too, but none of it memorable.
I thought I hadn’t read this book before— get to the end, I have. Says a lot. Feels like little happened, I was jipped on dialogue, idk.
I bought [b:High Voltage|35457273|High Voltage (Fever, #10)|Karen Marie Moning|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1503486372s/35457273.jpg|41217240] as soon as it was released because I love the Fever series, but it has sat in my reading list for a month because I didn’t want to not love the series anymore. Mac and Barrons were amazing, and l quite liked Ryodan, the rest of the 9 are cool, so are the Sidhe-Seers and the Keltar, but I have never really liked Dani. As a child, I found her really fecking annoying, and then as Jada she left me cold, so with Dani becoming the dominant character I was worried.
I shouldn’t have been. Dani has grown up – she is now the best of both characters. There is still some of Mega’s superhero and some of Jada’s frosty warrior, but now they blend into a balanced (and compassionate) woman who has been through hell and still manages to see the good in the world. And while I have always “quite liked” Ryodan, in [b:High Voltage|35457273|High Voltage (Fever, #10)|Karen Marie Moning|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1503486372s/35457273.jpg|41217240], [a:Karen Marie Moning|48206|Karen Marie Moning|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1497612477p2/48206.jpg] has created the perfect man for Dani – in fact THE PERFECT MAN!
I cannot wait to find out where their adventures take us next.

had a blast reading this and cried a few times, wasn't her strongest plot heavy book but I loved being with Dani :-)
Dani and Mac are my favorite characters in this bookverse. I'm not usually a fan of books that constantly shift to different characters' perspectives, and many times I'll stop reading a book because that is freaking annoying. But the beauty of each character's struggle and the emotions the stories convey keep me coming back for more. Very happy to be rid of the one absolutely annoying character. He's a footnote at best but I won't name him so as not to have a spoiler. Excited about the (platonic so don't worry) relationship between Dani and Shazam, and the developing relationship (finally) between Dani and her Beast.
Oh my god, this was so unnecessary and ridiculous and the series just should have ended after 9 books!
For 300 pages pretty much nothing happened except for a tons of inner monologues and the last 80 pages were so ridiculous that I was really glad when it was over!
