Second chance romance// Military romance// Duel POV// Duel timelines// HEA
Rebecca Yarros can do no wrong in my eyes. The way she writes a romance is perfection. Her writing style is so beautiful and descriptive. I can picture every single scene in my head, and feel every declaration of love, like I'm right there with the characters. I can't get enough!
"His kiss felt like coming home."
An unexplainable bond that connected them during an unfortunate event; Izzy and Nate became inseparable, despite Nate's circumstances with him being in the military. Forced to break apart for years at a time, leaving them yearning for more days, and trying to make the best out of what little time they have together. Despite every interaction they have getting cut short, they still managed to fall deeply in love, because no matter how long they were apart, no one could ever take their place.
"Whatever had bound us together in the first place was still there, as tangible as ever. We'd buried it, ignored it, burned it into the ground, but never managed to sever it."
This book was definitely a rollercoaster of emotions. I can't directly connect with Izzy and Nate's story, but, it was beautiful and memorable. I have only read a handful of military romances, and now I know why I avoid them at all costs. Heartbreak. Huge respect to you military spouse's, because I don't know how sane I could stay with just stealing moments away with my spouse over the course of years. I'm wiping tears from my eyes at every present day chapter, because I couldn't imagine the hurt and longing.
"We finally had forever."

I feel like the main characters just said the same thing over and over the whole book and it got really annoying by the end. I also feel like there should be trigger warnings for anyone with military PTSD at the beginning.

In the likely event is the first non-fourth wing book I’ve read by Rebecca Yarros. I love the way she writes relationships and this book was no different. Reading this book whilst on a plane may not have been one of my brightest ideas but the storyline was so good and the characters so interesting I didn’t even care. I loved trying to figure out what had happened in Nate and Isas past from the brief glimpses we were given throughout, but I couldn’t have predicted the Torres plot twist at the end- that broke me! Overall the book was great, but I did have to take off 0.5 stars for the sheer amount of Panic! At the Disco references (Girls/Girls/Boys for a straight relationship was a choice in my opinion). Northern Downpour is a banger though which is why it’s only a half star off lol.
